About Dr. Herwich
Kurtis Herwich, D.O., graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in radio/TV. He went on to work in video and film production for over 14 years. Some of his favorite projects were cable TV shows involving medical and forensic topics. After working on a plastic surgery project, Dr. Kurtis Herwich decided to pursue medicine. He attended Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, where he received his Doctorate of Osteopathy. He then completed his residency at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital in Niagara Falls, New York.
Dr. Herwich’s primary duties involve seeing patients on an outpatient basis and practicing family medicine. He is also a member of the Wilderness Medical Society, which helps train EMS, APPs, physicians, and other first responders to practice in the wilderness and austere conditions.
Dr. Herwich loves going to the Rocky Mountains to ski, hike, bike, and camp in his free time. He is also a big music fan and enjoys going to concerts, often combining that with his love of travel. Many times, he is accompanied by his adventurous cat, Buster. Utilizing a cat-sized life jacket and hiking on a leash, Dr. Herwich and Buster have gone kayaking at the Shawnee Mission Lake in Kansas City and even hiked the Rocky Mountains.
