Sam Lane Graduates from Kansas Hospital Association Leadership Institute
Pawnee Valley Community Hospital is proud to announce that Sam Lane, Director of Support Services, has graduated from the 2026 Kansas Hospital Association Leadership Institute.
The Kansas Hospital Association Leadership Institute is designed to develop emerging healthcare leaders across the state, equipping participants with the skills needed to lead teams, navigate challenges, and drive positive change within their organizations. Participants are nominated by their hospital CEO in recognition of their leadership potential and dedication to professional growth.
Lane joined PVCH in 2013 as Dietary Production Lead and was promoted to Director of Support Services in 2020. During his time at PVCH, he has become known for his innovative approach, high standards, and commitment to improving the patient experience.
“Sam Lane changed how people think about hospital food at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital,” said PVCH Administrator Melanie Urban. “Starting as Dietary Production Lead and later becoming Director of Support Services, he raised standards for patient meals, cafeteria service, and internal catering. Under his leadership, the cafeteria has become a community favorite and a point of pride.”
In addition to transforming dietary services, Lane has led several initiatives that have strengthened hospital operations and enhanced the patient experience, including the implementation of an ultraviolet room sanitation system, an electronic food temperature monitoring system, and a modern point-of-sale system. His interest in technology and data-driven decision-making has helped bring new ideas and efficiencies to the organization.
Lane was selected to participate in the Leadership Institute because of his demonstrated leadership, collaborative approach, and investment in PVCH’s future. He serves on the hospital’s Culture Committee and is known for building strong relationships across departments, listening to others’ perspectives, and working together to find solutions.
The Leadership Institute curriculum focuses on developing skills in communication, team building, conflict resolution, and leadership. The knowledge and experiences gained through the program will support Lane’s continued work to strengthen services and enhance the experience of patients, visitors, and associates at PVCH.
Please join us in congratulating Sam on this outstanding accomplishment.
