Preventive health screenings, like colonoscopies and mammograms, can help identify health concerns before they become serious problems, allowing time for early intervention and treatment. Early detection can increase the chances of successful treatment and reduce the risk of complications. Our family medicine team can determine which screenings are appropriate for you based on your age, gender, and other factors.
Colonoscopy
Colorectal cancer deaths in America are declining – and the fact that more people are getting colonoscopies on time has a lot to do with that. If you are over 45, have a higher risk of developing colon cancer or family history of the disease, talk to your primary care provider about scheduling a colonoscopy at HaysMed today.
Mammograms
Regular mammograms provide your best defense against breast cancer: early detection. Most women should have one starting at 40, or earlier if recommended by your doctor. Lung/Pulmonary Screening
Smoking is the greatest cause of lung cancer, so if you’re over 55 with a smoking history, it’s time for annual lung screenings. For a referral, talk to your primary care provider – and for healthier lungs, ask your provider for education and resources to help you quit smoking.
Cardiac Screening
Identifying and managing your risk factors for heart disease can significantly decrease your chances of suffering a heart attack and stroke. We offer referrals for specialized cardiac testing, and your primary care provider can assess your risk factors for heart disease. Talk to your provider today about which cardiac tests may be right for you.
